5 Paths to Spiritual Growth

When we suddenly discover the innate calling for greatness in our lives, it’s important to follow through on our higher voice of wisdom. In most instances, our life purpose is being presented to us and that means we must follow our gut feelings to achieve the spiritual growth that is necessary for our passage into higher levels of awareness, acceptance, and inner peace. This is especially true for those of us who have become so caught up with the daily balancing act of juggle family, work, home, and other social obligations.

Though all of us enter this world with no preconceptions or prejudgments, our physical and mental beings become bombarded by external and environmental conditioning. While much of our upbringing and belief systems are constructively shaped by our families, teachers, and society in general, we sometimes become too consumed and inhibited by these traditional values and roles. In order to create an environment for positive spiritual development, we must nurture our higher consciousness by deprogramming most of what we’ve been mentally taught. That doesn’t mean we must stray away from moral values and ethics, but it means that we must totally absolve our emotional limitations that lead to negativity and mental barriers.

To achieve spiritual growth, one must begin to think and truly feel with an absolutely uninhibited mind and spirit. Within the core of our being, there is a wild mustang, a free spirit wanting to desperately break free from the mental fences we’ve built around ourselves; it’s in a way, the safety net that our mind has created for us to shelter us from harmful situations. However, that wild mustang, free spirit is your authentic self; and whether you choose to follow it or not, your authentic self wants to be released from your mental and emotional grips…and it will work fervently towards that end whether you want it to or not.

This is your soul’s way of making you stop dead in your tracks and causing you to spring into action. Why? The primary reason your soul speaks to you is to give you the appropriate clues to achieve and maintain balance in all aspects of your life — mind, body, and spirit. It truly wants you to grow spiritually so you are readied to receive the blessings that the Universal flow of energy wants you to have, that is, living in complete balance.

To help you understand more fully, I am sharing with you the following five important paths to spiritual growth. When you become aware of the paths that we often follow, you are better prepared to walk them with clarity and positive intent.

* Spiritual growth during hardship. In turbulent times in our lives, we often find that we must turn to a Higher Source of wisdom for comfort, guidance, and reason. While we may not always like the feeling of distress, it is in these times that we attain some of the highest levels of spiritual growth. It is also in these times, that we become closer to God, our Creator. This will enable us to express a deep and profound connection with our Source and a sense of oneness with the world around us.

* Spiritual growth in relationships. When we enter into a marriage, partnership, or experience the joy of a new addition to the family — we often discover the spiritual element of life here as well. Feelings of deep love and admiration fill our hearts and souls with an overflowing abundance. And as we all know, love is a deeply spiritual emotion that can only flourish and grow. When we willingly share our love and compassion with others, we actually strengthen our own resources.

* Spiritual growth in work. In work? Really? Yes, when we put 110 percent into our work efforts, we may not always be recognized for our productivity; but we know in our hearts that we have accomplished something, and we have succeeded in doing our part toward creating a finished product or beneficial outcome — and that makes all the difference in how we perceive life. What we give out we get back 110 percent.

* Spiritual growth during travel. Have you ever taken time to observe the world around you? Whether you’ve seen the marvels of Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, the grand strand, or the rolling hills of Appalachia, you’ve touched the face of God. Spirituality is everywhere you look if only you seek it. I look in awe at the beauty of nature all around me and how it never fails to bring a sense of great joy and inner peace into my heart.

* Spiritual growth in death. As harsh as this may seem, death is the final passage to the Highest Realm of peace. When we experience the passing of a loved one, we go through several stages of grief and the mourning process. When we have reached the final stage of acceptance, it is then that we have grown spiritually. We have learned that while we may not always be able to physically see our loved ones, they will always reside in our hearts and memories forever. Spiritual growth comes when we understand that this eternal flame of love can never be extinguished.

As the tides of the many seasons come and go, we learn that from spiritual growth, comes a new dawning of a deep and spiritual recognition and awareness of life, love, and sense of purpose. Remember, the wild mustang, the free spirit in you — your authentic self, is ready to be released from your everyday confines. All you must do is ask for spiritual guidance and the Universal flow of energy will give you the soul power and tools to discover how you can truly enjoy what your life destiny is and will be.

Karma demystified… sort of!

Karma. It’s a term that gets thrown around a lot these days and many of us have a good idea about what it is…or do we?

‘Karma’ is a Sanskrit word with several layers of translation- some being  ‘wheel’, ‘balance’ and ‘debt’. The Hindu faithful use the word Karma to denote  both shallow and deep aspects of an individual soul’s journey from this life  into the next based on spiritual debt and  needed experiences. Karma is the ‘baggage’ we have as spirit souls- it is both  what we are here in this life to deal  with and what we take with us to the next. Whatever Karma you have right now  defines where you’ve been- and the Karma you have when you die defines where  you’re headed.

Let’s clear up from the get go that ‘good Karma’ is not good at all. Having  ‘good Karma’ will require a soul to take rebirth in order to burn it off. If we  want complete transcendence- zero Karma is the way to go! Good Karma and good living are two different things. We annihilate bad Karma by being good (charity, selfless service, prayer, etc.), and gain bad karma by being naughty (hate, violence, anger, envy, malice, lies, etc.).

Let’s look at this another way…

Let’s say someone is born into a socialite family- wants for nothing, gets a great education, has excellent health, general good luck, etc. We can assume  (although not absolutely define for certain) that in a past life, this person  did compassionate and selfless works that led them to a positive/good Karmic  load in this life. If all of this goes to their head- the good turns sour and  next time around they get just about the opposite to learn and KNOW the  lessons.

Now, if we look at someone who experiences about the opposite in life-  poverty, ill health, bad luck; we can safely assume that in a past life they may  have abused abundance, cosmic laws or their own life journey. It happens and  we’re ALL guilty of acting against our bigger nature. How do I know that?  because we’re all here!

Sometimes Karma can seem like such a harsh judgment! Who decides when our  actions are negative or positive? Who hands out the ruling and defines how our  next lifetime will roll so that we learn and experience all that we need to rectify toxic behaviours/beliefs and get closer to truth?

We  do!

All of our soul baggage is like a coloured filter, and our soul is  like a bright light. What we project- we attract. If we have acted against the self in a past life- or last week for that matter, a filter is created over the  light of the soul and as the light shines through it- circumstances resonant  with that behaviour come our way… in a big way. We shine forth on a subtle  spiritual level exactly who we are- and the cosmos responds to that light.

If we are impatient- we shine impatience on the subtle level and thus attract  situations that will challenge and thus heal our impatience. You know, you only  get stuck in traffic when you are an impatient person! Once you master patience there’s no need to be stuck in traffic so it doesn’t happen anymore.

The goal of understanding Karma, or spiritual debt as I call it outside the Hindu specifics of the term- is so we can understand the why’s and how’s of  life.

Nothing is chance- everything, and I mean EVERYTHING we experience comes to  us for the sole purpose of enlightening, healing and empowering us. That’s every blissful love affair, every stubbed toe, every short pay check and every blessing we receive. Spiritual debt is a sort of  barometer about our journey and helps us understand the bigger picture. If we  are constantly attracting a similar situation- it’s a big clue we need to look into that and figure out what’s up so we can be more attentive to receiving the  healing opportunities coming our way.

If something comes over and over again, it’s because we’re not getting it. Time to take inventory, get straight in the  heart and open up to be guided down the sometimes hard healing path that always leads to bliss beyond imagination.  Recurring issues are also a great time to contact your psychic spiritual adviser for another view into the journey.

In Egyptian mythology- at death, the  heart of the deceased is weighed on a scale opposite an ostrich feather. If the heart weighs more than the feather, it gets eaten by a big scary monster. If it weighs less- it goes to paradise. What’s being said here? Heaven is a place of  NO BAGGAGE! The heart that weighs less than a feather is the heart with no  baggage and no attachment to false things.

This is a heart who has lived life in accords with cosmic law and personal journey and who has walked out of life with  no deep obsessions/addictions to material things, and no sins of the self weighing on them. It’s a heart light enough to float to the unseen above!

In my revelation, I have experienced that at death- the only judgment is  between the soul and a mirror. In the soul-state that exists when we are not  attached to the psychical body and the material world- great clarity and wisdom is present. WE define how we could have done better, how we might have avoided  lessons or healing that tried and tried to manifest in our lives, how we did  good, etc. We decide what’s needed- and in that space it’s always the truth  because it’s OUR truth.

This view differs from many western beliefs as well  as the beliefs of many Hindu sects who house the term ‘Karma’, but coming to  this realization we are forced to take total accountability for our spiritual  actions and our path. The ‘Blame God’ game comes to a quick end and nothing  could be better for a soul!

Each of us is walking our own wheel of life- experiencing different things to help us know it all. Exploring who we are, who everyone else is and who the  Divine is. Learning by doing, loving by experiencing, respecting by seeing and  knowing by being. Simply following the intuitive cosmic laws that are inscribed  in each of our hearts will ensure that we walk the spiral journey with right  action and progress in our great path of healing and bliss.

Unconditional Love Part 5 – Life Experiences – Choice – Karma

The ultimate goal of the soul is to seek, to experience, and to understand the marvellous wonder of existence. Enlightenment is achieved when one finds  perfection and unconditional love in all experiences. This progresses through eons of time, with each lifetime gaining, unfolding, and developing new  awareness every experience of every lifetime adds to the whole of the soul. You are forever expanding  and accumulating information consciously and unconsciously.

Although our physical being does not, the soul remembers in perfect detail every experience  ever had; every thought ever thought; every word, feeling, smell, scene, and  taste ever known. It all is categorized and remembered. This creates a  particular energy: The energy of you.

There is a cause and effect inherent in everything, including thoughts. The soul not only seeks experience,  it also seeks itself. The soul is the divinity of God and unconditional love incarnate. The secret of life is not in pointing fingers at everybody else and  judging their behaviours or beliefs, but in looking closely at self and noticing  what choices you make for yourself and where those choices take you.

Are they  based in fear or love? Are they for your highest good? Are you adding positively or negatively to life as a whole, including all life on the planet? This, my friend, is a full time job. Do not worry  about what you have done; stay focused on what you are doing. Karma is balanced  through love. Love is the most powerful  and greatest energy of the universe, and it will positively affect even the most  adverse situations. It is the ultimate healer. It is God. It can be used to heal  and balance any situation in the universe.

The universe is based on and  created from love. Anything not of love will create an imbalance, and the  universe will strive to put this energy into balance. This balancing is not  about punishment and reward, but it is about natural consequences. Striking out  at others, grievances, unforgiveness, hatred, violence, anger, fear, and  jealousy all have an energy to them, and there will be a reaction if this is the  energy you choose to display.

This energy is real and will affect you even if your attitudes remain as thoughts only. You will feel the effects of your  negative attitudes and actions because they will become enormous obstacles to  the growth of your soul. Make note that I am not saying these attitudes are  wrong, but that they do constitute an extremely dense energy that will inhibit  your own enlightenment. Remember, to seek enlightenment is to seek love.

The enlightenment of the soul is based in love and walking the spiritual path  from the heart. Being aware and conscious means making deliberate choices to exhibit love, no matter what situation or life condition you find yourself in.  This change always involves personal work  and commitment to the process of change.

It can be complex, and you may feel  like you are beating your head against a wall. Truly, the soul is complex, vast,  immortal, interconnected, and multifaceted. This makes healing and change also  complex and vast. However, when you are working with love as a tool, you are  using the most powerful force in the universe, and the results can be  miraculous.

I have personally found that when I feel blocked in my own  growth, it is often wise to seek someone who works with energy and is not  invested in my personal issues. This helps achieve clarity. Spiritual growth can  often be facilitated by someone who works with energy and the healing of the soul. In some situations, our obstacles might stem from soul loss that occurred  earlier in life or from circumstances of another lifetime and are not present in our conscious mind.

The spirits have taught me that the care of the soul is the first concern, and that the soul is a composite of all that you have ever  experienced in all lifetimes. This complexity of the soul creates multiple levels of healing and makes growth possible.

Live Your Life, Your Way

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life.

Live Your Life, Your Way

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realise about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness.

Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.

Take the risk: Decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective.

You have the choice between being a lost traveller or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads: · Get as many information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

· Identify and create options. What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work.

From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.

Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future. And be careful!

The Magic of Synchronicity

Last week while checking up on my friends on Facebook, I saw that one of my friends made a statement about how much fun it is when things happen in synchronicity.

The Magic of Synchronicity

  • Coincidence of events that seem to be meaningfully related, conceived in Jungian theory as an explanatory principle on the same order as causality.
  • The experience of two or more events which  are causally unrelated occurring together in a supposedly meaningful manner. In  order to count as synchronicity, the events should be unlikely to occur together  by chance.

Last week while checking up on my friends on Facebook, I saw that one of my friends made a  statement about how much fun it is when things happen in synchronicity. She  mentioned a recent success and how it seemed to just come from out of the blue,  like magic!

I am very happy for my friend and her newfound success, but her statement  about synchronicity really got me thinking. See, I don’t think synchronicity is  a random act of coincidence at all. In fact, I don’t even believe in  coincidence. Rather, I believe that our benevolent Universe (you can use your favourite term for it: God, Supreme Intelligence, Zero Point Field, Energy) is  always conspiring for our greatest good and that synchronicity is a natural  state and it happens all the time – in every situation!

Follow me here. In our limited understanding of things as human beings, we  are conditioned to be surprised by our successes and much more apt to accept  mediocrity. And with our limited vision, we cannot see the big picture and how  ALL of it: the good, the bad and the ugly are all pieces of this synchronicity  pie.

It’s easy for us to believe in the magic of synchronicity when seemingly “good things” happen to us, but what about the “bad stuff,” like divorce,  illness and or even loss through death? We have a tendency to judge those events  as punishment, curses or bad luck. What if I were to say to you that those  events are also the good workings of our benevolent Universe? Would you believe  me?

Imagine if these negative experiences were actually gifts. Since we cannot  possibly see our full potential, coupled with our human tendency to stay in our  comfort zones, what if these negative experiences present themselves as a means  to push us towards our greatness? After all, isn’t expansion the purpose of our  lives?

What if that heart-ache of a divorce instilled in you self reliance that you  didn’t know you had? And you then model that behaviour to your children, who grow  up to be safe and secure in themselves. The ripple effect could be endless!

Think of people, maybe even yourself, who have survived life threatening  illnesses. Many of these people are stronger and healthier than they ever were  and they are champions of causes helping people in great numbers with their  stories, experience, support and compassion.

We can easily view crisis as defeat and resist it. Or we can embrace it and  know that it is a loving shove from the  Universe reminding us of our brilliance and to stretch, grow and expand into our  divine potential.

We can shift our perception in the snap of our fingers to realize that even  the not-so-good stuff are definitely pieces of that mysterious, beautiful and  benevolent synchronistic pie… and that synchronicity, divine connections, magic  is happening all around us.

Just look for it and you’ll begin to see it everywhere, all the time!

Love & Blessings!
