5 Paths to Spiritual Growth

When we suddenly discover the innate calling for greatness in our lives, it’s important to follow through on our higher voice of wisdom. In most instances, our life purpose is being presented to us and that means we must follow our gut feelings to achieve the spiritual growth that is necessary for our passage into higher levels of awareness, acceptance, and inner peace. This is especially true for those of us who have become so caught up with the daily balancing act of juggle family, work, home, and other social obligations.

Though all of us enter this world with no preconceptions or prejudgments, our physical and mental beings become bombarded by external and environmental conditioning. While much of our upbringing and belief systems are constructively shaped by our families, teachers, and society in general, we sometimes become too consumed and inhibited by these traditional values and roles. In order to create an environment for positive spiritual development, we must nurture our higher consciousness by deprogramming most of what we’ve been mentally taught. That doesn’t mean we must stray away from moral values and ethics, but it means that we must totally absolve our emotional limitations that lead to negativity and mental barriers.

To achieve spiritual growth, one must begin to think and truly feel with an absolutely uninhibited mind and spirit. Within the core of our being, there is a wild mustang, a free spirit wanting to desperately break free from the mental fences we’ve built around ourselves; it’s in a way, the safety net that our mind has created for us to shelter us from harmful situations. However, that wild mustang, free spirit is your authentic self; and whether you choose to follow it or not, your authentic self wants to be released from your mental and emotional grips…and it will work fervently towards that end whether you want it to or not.

This is your soul’s way of making you stop dead in your tracks and causing you to spring into action. Why? The primary reason your soul speaks to you is to give you the appropriate clues to achieve and maintain balance in all aspects of your life — mind, body, and spirit. It truly wants you to grow spiritually so you are readied to receive the blessings that the Universal flow of energy wants you to have, that is, living in complete balance.

To help you understand more fully, I am sharing with you the following five important paths to spiritual growth. When you become aware of the paths that we often follow, you are better prepared to walk them with clarity and positive intent.

* Spiritual growth during hardship. In turbulent times in our lives, we often find that we must turn to a Higher Source of wisdom for comfort, guidance, and reason. While we may not always like the feeling of distress, it is in these times that we attain some of the highest levels of spiritual growth. It is also in these times, that we become closer to God, our Creator. This will enable us to express a deep and profound connection with our Source and a sense of oneness with the world around us.

* Spiritual growth in relationships. When we enter into a marriage, partnership, or experience the joy of a new addition to the family — we often discover the spiritual element of life here as well. Feelings of deep love and admiration fill our hearts and souls with an overflowing abundance. And as we all know, love is a deeply spiritual emotion that can only flourish and grow. When we willingly share our love and compassion with others, we actually strengthen our own resources.

* Spiritual growth in work. In work? Really? Yes, when we put 110 percent into our work efforts, we may not always be recognized for our productivity; but we know in our hearts that we have accomplished something, and we have succeeded in doing our part toward creating a finished product or beneficial outcome — and that makes all the difference in how we perceive life. What we give out we get back 110 percent.

* Spiritual growth during travel. Have you ever taken time to observe the world around you? Whether you’ve seen the marvels of Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, the grand strand, or the rolling hills of Appalachia, you’ve touched the face of God. Spirituality is everywhere you look if only you seek it. I look in awe at the beauty of nature all around me and how it never fails to bring a sense of great joy and inner peace into my heart.

* Spiritual growth in death. As harsh as this may seem, death is the final passage to the Highest Realm of peace. When we experience the passing of a loved one, we go through several stages of grief and the mourning process. When we have reached the final stage of acceptance, it is then that we have grown spiritually. We have learned that while we may not always be able to physically see our loved ones, they will always reside in our hearts and memories forever. Spiritual growth comes when we understand that this eternal flame of love can never be extinguished.

As the tides of the many seasons come and go, we learn that from spiritual growth, comes a new dawning of a deep and spiritual recognition and awareness of life, love, and sense of purpose. Remember, the wild mustang, the free spirit in you — your authentic self, is ready to be released from your everyday confines. All you must do is ask for spiritual guidance and the Universal flow of energy will give you the soul power and tools to discover how you can truly enjoy what your life destiny is and will be.

Live Your Life, Your Way

Life is like a road. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of single blessedness, marriage, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are: in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. There are no guarantees. This is one of the most important things you need to realise about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness. Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness.

Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always bad, especially if you are highly qualified and competent. There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not, why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize its soundness. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.

Take the risk: Decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo. Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, moreover open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective.

You have the choice between being a lost traveller or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid. Here are some pointers that could help you choose the best option in the face of life’s crossroads: · Get as many information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. Just like any news reporter, ask the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

· Identify and create options. What options do the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, but sometimes they are numerous. But what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work.

From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and wrong decisions are always at hindsight. So choose… decide… believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.

Now that you have made a decision, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But the important thing is that you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision or not, only time can tell. But do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future. And be careful!

Find Your Centre

I said with yesterday’s card “Let Go” that I had the “feeling” that the spirit world had a theme for you running with the cards at present. The day before it was “Forgiveness”. So run them together in your mind and see what you “feel”. Forgiveness, Let Go and Find your Centre. What do you “Feel”?

The opening sentence of the card is where will start…..

Your outside world is a reflection and a manifestation of what’s going on inside you at this time.

Is it just coincidence the way the cards are coming out of the pack at present or is it synchronicity with a nudge from the spirit world? I will let you decide, my own thoughts are “synchronicity with nudge from spirit”.

If I had been doing this reading last year I would be talking about how crazy, fast and overwhelming our lifestyles have become and how there really isn’t time for a lot of people to just stop and think. We run from one problem to another and often for some, because of the kind of lifestyles they lead, they could be causing some of their problems for themselves.

However over the past months life has had to slow down because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, and now some would say they have too much time on their hands, too much time to think, however thinking and stressing are two completely different things. Because so many now are stressing because their lifestyles have or will have to change to accommodate what is fast becoming known as the “new normal”.

That is what has happened, we have moved from a fast moving, no time to stop, stressful life to a slow moving stressful life. This is why it is so important to “Check in with yourself”.

When was the last time I checked in with myself?

Well when was it? When was the last time you checked in with yourself? I always finish my reading/articles with the words “take some time out for yourself! It is allowed ” and it really is so important to do so. We are a spirit in a human body not a machine, our human bodies can break down or maybe stop completely!

Find time to time just step back just a few minutes from home, family, working life, partners, just life in general and say to yourself “this few moments are just for me!” Close your eyes, take 3 nice deep long breaths, make sure you exhale completely letting all that stale energy out, and feel the release as the stress leaves your body.

We spend far too much time these days worrying about what we haven’t done, what needs to be done, what we haven’t got, what we think we need (I say think we need because most of time for some think is actually really just a want). For some we have become a world of need and greed and stopped caring and sharing. Thinking of “self” in it’s true sense is the last of the things on their list of “needs”.

We all need those few minutes, try it for yourself, take that preciousness time to just stop what you are doing, slow down the mind, switch off the worry and stress, take a few deep breaths, feel the stress leaving the body and “Find Your Centre”

As I always say….  “take some time out for yourself! It is allowed

Until next time please take care and stay safe

How Negative Emotions Can Harm Your Health

Health and Negativity ~ How Negative Emotions Can Harm Your Health

Our negative thoughts can wreck havoc on our physical and mental health. While the effects on our mental health are obvious, most of us ignore or do not  understand how negativity takes a toll on our physical well being. We all know  that negative emotions add to our stress levels, we are also aware of the fact  the prolonged anxiety and stress can lead to heart diseases and many psychological problems, but what we don’t understand or are perhaps unaware of is the fact that negative emotions have physical manifestations on our health!

Feelings like anger, insecurity, anxiety, jealousy etc can not only trigger aches, pains, or illness in the body but can also  hamper our recovery.

To be able to understand how our negative emotions affect our health we need to be aware of the symbolism of our bodies. For instance our face symbolises our  outer appearance i.e. what we show to the world, any problem with the face would  mean that we hold negative thoughts about how the world perceives us. Similarly our eyes represent our ability to see and perceive, a problem; poor vision may  mean that we are stopping ourselves from acknowledging the truth or seeing  things as they really are.

The following are some simple examples which illustrate how our negative feelings may be affecting our health:

When we do not express ourselves freely or are unable to stand up for  ourselves it may affect the throat. The throat represents our ability to speak  up. Any stifling of self-expression, creativity or our feelings can lead to  problems like tonsillitis and sore throat. When the inability to express oneself  is combined with bottled up anger it can lead to even more serious throat  problems like laryngitis.

Our hearts symbolise our ability to love; heart problems could therefore be  the result of holding yourself back from expressing love, self-loathing, negative self-talk and thinking, feeling you do not deserve to love or to be  loved, resentment and hatred.

Our backs ‘support’ our bodies, any problems with the back could mean  feeling scattered, fearing over-burdened with problems or fearing that life may  not support you. A problem with the upper back could be related to stress or  feeling your loved ones are not supporting you and lower back problems could be related to financial worries  (feeling “unsupported” financially).

Our stomachs symbolise our ability to digest and assimilate. When you can’t  accept (digest) a new idea or experience, your stomach may show symptoms.  Indigestion problems could be related to not accepting change, new ideas,  situations, or people in your life.

Using these examples as guidelines can help to understand the symbolic meaning of every body part. Once we understand this symbolism we can probe  deeper into every illness and see if it’s cause lies somewhere in our thought  process or if our thinking pattern is in any way hampering our recovery.

Daily Guidance ~ Let Go

Daily Guidance ~ Let Go ~ Today's card is Let Go and for me reading the cards on a psychic, intuitive, mediumistic, spiritual level it "feels" to me that the spirit world have at the moment chosen a theme for you

Let Go

Yesterday I published the 1st reading in this new Daily Guidance series and the card was “Forgiveness”. It never ceases to amaze me the way that the spirit world work. As I have explained before I always shuffle the cards asking the spirit world what message they have for you and 9 times out of 10 a card at some stage will “jump out” of the pack and this is the card I will take as chosen for you.

Today’s card is Let Go and for me reading the cards on a psychic, intuitive, mediumistic, spiritual level it “feels” to me that the spirit world have at the moment chosen a theme for you. Yesterday’s card was about forgiveness and today’s is Let Go. I think definitely a theme emerging don’t you?

The cards opening sentence says:

Once you let go of the outcome, you’ll be able to release all the emotional constraints that have held you back in the past.

Why do I say there is a theme?

Well in order to forgive as we discussed yesterday with the card of Forgiveness we need to “Let Go” of the feelings and memories that created a hurtful experience for us in the first place, and until we can do that then the act of forgiveness can not take place. We have to “Let Go” first.

To “Let Go” as with forgiveness can take a lot of courage, strength and trust. Trust in ourselves and in our beliefs. Some may as the old saying goes believe it’s like “casting caution to the wind”. Personally I do not believe so and as a person who believes in spirituality and attempts to lead their life in the most spiritual way that they can, (no one is perfect and for those that try like me, you understand that leading a spiritual life is not easy!) put their faith in the Spirit World and Angelic Realms and draw upon them for the strength and guidance that they need.

I’m sure some will not agree with me, but I also believe that if you are reading this article then you are of like minded thought and beliefs yes?

As the card goes on to say:

Trust in the higher good and guidance of spirit, as we have only your best intentions at heart and will do everything in our power to protect you.

Letting go and trusting that all will be well is not an easy task, knowing that you then have no control over the outcome of a situation or event is difficult. But do we have that amount of control anyway? can we control the outcome of all situations we face in life? That’s for another article another time.

If something turns out well or better than we expected we are really happy but how often do we give thought to the fact that there could have been some “unseen force” (spirit world, angels,) guiding or protecting us?

If we let go and things don’t turn out the way we wanted or planned we get upset. The question then is, was what we wanted the outcome to be in our best interest and for our highest good?

It all comes down to what we discussed in the beginning Trust, Faith and Belief. If we have these then we can truly learn to Let Go!

Let Go will have a different meaning for everyone. It can be a bad habit, addiction, relationship, job or set of beliefs. The list goes on. We need to look at our life and find (being truthfully honest with ourselves) what is not working for us, what or maybe who is having a negative effect on our life, what is stopping us from finding true happiness, growth and preventing us from moving forward.

I read somewhere these words, I’m sorry I can’t remember where, but have never forgotten them:

For those that believe (in the afterlife) the evidence is never ending. For those that do not, there is none.

I will leave you with those words for now …. Have Trust, Have Faith, Believe in Yourself and Let Go !

As I always say….  “take some time out for yourself! It is allowed

Until next time please take care and stay safe
